The growth of machine learning to solve problems has led to a market for high information content transducers. Raman spectroscopy provides high information content and when combined with NIR absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence a single spectrum can deliver even more information. In collaboration with Texas A&M we are developing a wearable transducer that, coupled with machine learning, we’ll report measurable physiological signals to a cell phone.
Fast spectroscopy is our project to develop a patent pending transducer to report the signals from spatial arrays. There are many examples of spatial arrays, but the most common is the microwell plate used in diagnostics. Microwell plate readers exist that can read all the microwells simultaneously. These are usually created to measure absorption or fluorescence from the sample. SKM Instruments is developing a similar method to read Raman signals from individual wells simultaneously.
